We believe the role of the government is to protect rights, not to take them away. Connecticut Democrats are committed to ensuring full equality for women. Like most Americans and Connecticut residents, we also unequivocally believe that everyone should be able to access high-quality reproductive health care services, including the choice to have a safe and legal abortion.
In the first 100 days after Roe v. Wade was reversed by the Supreme Court, nearly 22 million women, or 29% of women who are of reproductive age lived in a state where abortion is banned or limited to six weeks gestational age. Some clinics have closed completely, unlikely to ever re-open, and that means a loss of health care for communities. Source: NPR
