A Dangerous Time In American History

Yesterday, women were denied health care in waiting rooms across the country.

This is a dangerous time in American history and Connecticut continues to be a beacon in the darkness.

Ask your state representative or senator if they voted for the Connecticut Reproductive Freedom Defense Act. The Stratford Democratic delegation certainly voted to protect women’s rights.

Elections matter.

While we are crushed by the ruling, we are not shocked. Democrats, the Republicans are mobilizing to strip us of our power and overturn our democracy. There is already talk of a national abortion ban. While Connecticut is now a safe haven, we cannot become complacent. We cannot expect our federally elected officials to do what is in our best interest. We must hold them accountable. Elections have consequences. This is a moment for all of us to reclaim our power.

We are proud to be part of the Connecticut Democratic Party and will fight this assault on reproductive rights, rights that have been guaranteed for half a century.

A plank from our state party platform: “Connecticut Democrats are committed to ensuring full equality for women. Like the majority of Americans and Connecticut residents, we also unequivocally believe that everyone should be able to access high-quality reproductive health care services, including the choice to have a safe and legal abortion.”

CALL TO ACTION

The Stratford DTC is teaming up with the Milford DTC to host ‘We Won’t Go Back – Stand in Solidarity Against Overturn of Roe v Wade’ tomorrow at 4pm at the Milford City Hall (110 River Street, Milford CT 06460). Please come out and stand in solidarity for women everywhere.

Numbers = power. Join us to show your anger over the Supreme Court reversal of Roe v Wade, which strips women of the freedom to make their own health care decisions and puts that power in the hands of the government. We must stand in solidarity with women in states where the right to control their own bodies has been stripped and share information on how we can help them.
